So now we have to start to worry about another tax hike. A Gas Tax Hike. It is being proposed that the tax per gallon goes up from 19 to 27 cents. That is just the state's take. If you add cook county and chicago taxes, 6 and 5 cents per gallon respectively, a gallon of gas starts to become a luxery item.
